Nendaz has a packed events calendar to
suit all ages and interests, both through the Winter and Summer
seasons.
The Ski season gets off to an exciting start with the grand
opening of the ski lifts on the 8 December 2011 and then events run
regularly through the year. The annual programme includes various
types of event including;
Full Moon Parties on
a monthly basis which offer the magical opportunity to descend the
slopes by torchlight and then enjoy aperitifs and pasta at Tracouet
as well as the odd glass of mulled wine to keep you warm and
cosy.
World class
competitions to watch, such as the Nissan Xtreme Swatch
Freeride Contest, The Rivella DaKine Giant XTour, The Grand Prix
Migros with its two giant slalom runs for European hopefuls and the
Mont Fort Ski run which is the equivalent of the Monaco Grand Prix
in Ski Racing terms.
Family events such as
the unusual arrival of Father Christmas by parachute rather than by
reindeer-drawn sleigh, Easter Egg hunts with the Easter rabbit and
the "Waterslide" when Tracouet is transformed into a beach complete
with waterslide.
Not to be forgotten is the tradition of
"Karnival", the Swiss equivalent of Mardi Gras in
February with lots of fun for the whole family, fancy dress,
clowns, torch lit descents and lots of music and laughter.
The International Alphorn Festival is a
festival of tradition and folklore giving you a great feel for all
things Swiss. Join in by following the grand procession, listening
to the music and dancing.
